Matthews Kennels is family-owned and operated by us – Debbie, Melody, and Ken Matthews. Since 2000, we have been providing professional and personalized care for every breed of dog you’ve ever heard of (and likely quite a few more!) on our beautiful 10-acre property just outside of Ottawa, Ontario. Our kennel houses 29 indoor spacious suites divided into 3 wings, ranging from 4’ x 8’ to 5’ x 8’and all 6′ tall.
We take great pride in the level of attention given to our guests. Most of our customers are with us for life, including veterinarians and other animal care professionals. Over the years, we have earned the reputation of being a home away from home that will give your pet the love and attention he or she deserves on those occasions when you can’t.
Prior to opening Matthews Kennels, we worked for eight years with the Humane Society, five years as OSPCA (Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) Agents, and several years in the animal rescue field. Now in our 21st year of being a boarding kennel and raw pet food/supplement retailer, we have cared for countless dogs in various stages of life, many healthy and active (who love our large enclosed grass exercise areas!) but also for those suffering from a broad variety of medical conditions. We are proud to have solid relationships with many local vets, from whom we never hesitate to get advice and assistance for guests who are chronically ill, or who simply seem under the weather. Last but not least, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the valuable experience of spending a lifetime with generations with our own family pets – currently Sierra, Cody, Frodo, and Winston.
